Membership Information Page
Membership Information How do I become a member? And then what happens?- First visit the club and see if it is right for you.
- Then, if you decide to join the club, well give you a membership form to fill out (or download this one).
- There is a $20 new member fee and $30 dues every six months. Of that, $27 goes to Toastmasters International and $3 stays with Dialoggers. (Compare that to the cost of a one-time seminar.) If you switch clubs you will only have to pay the new clubs fee.
- Toastmasters International will send you a New Member Kit which includes the Competent Communication and Competent Leadership manuals, general orientation materials, and helpful booklets on evaluation, using gestures, and vocal variety.
- Our VP-Education will immediately start scheduling you to participate in meeting roles. You will begin with easy jobs such as timing speeches, and work up to evaluating speeches and leading the meetings.
- You can begin giving prepared speeches as soon as you like. Your first speech will be a short ice breaker in which you tell us about yourself. The only objective for this speech is to stand in front of a group and speak. After that, the Competent Communication Manual will guide you through speeches that focus on organization, visual aids, gestures, and more. For each of these projects you can speak about any topic you like. You can work on presentations that you will give for professional or personal events.
- After each speech, youll receive constructive evaluations that will recognize your strengths and offer suggestions for improvement.
- The Competent Leadership manual gives you projects that you work on during meetings to build skills in listening, evaluation, and more.
- After you complete the basic manuals you can participate in the advanced communication and advanced leadership programs, which allow you to build as rigorous of a program as you want, to focus on the specific skills that you need.
